Reboot The Earth is planned as a social coding event that brings young computer programmers, scientists and other interested people together under the auspices of the United Nations to improve upon or build a new software program that addresses the current climate crisis.
Through a series of Tech Challenge in four continents, young people, including students will be presented with the opportunity to use open data and tech concepts to solve a local climate crisis that may be unique to each location and its community needs.
One selected team from each challenge location will win a trip to New York City, USA at Reboot the Earth Award Ceremony on September 21, 2019, at the United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019. The winning solution has an opportunity to be incubated in one of the global UN Technology Innovation Labs. Final solutions will stand a chance to be showcased at Davos in January 2020 during the week of the World Economic Forum.
