Youth Network on Beyond GDP

As part of the Youth Moving Beyond GDP initiative—a partnership between the Beyond Lab at UN Geneva, Rethinking Economics International, and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany, the Youth Beyond GDP Initiative is pleased to announce the launch of the Youth Network on Beyond GDP. This initiative represents a transformative platform at the intersection of youth leadership and economic system transformation. It aims to break through the “intergenerational glass ceiling” in economic thinking by empowering young economic thinkers to:

  • Redefine how we measure progress and contribute directly to global policy dialogues;
  • Provide educational leadership around the Beyond GDP agenda to young people across social movements;
  • Institutionalize intergenerational equity as a core principle in redesigning economic systems.

The Youth Network will serve as a sounding board for stakeholders shaping new Beyond GDP frameworks, including the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP. The Youth Network is also part of the Sevilla Platform for Action (SPA) initiative: “Beyond GDP Global Alliance” to help ensure youth perspectives are embedded in the formal FfD4 follow-up process, an important step toward institutionalizing intergenerational engagement.
