UN Solutions Summit is an annual catalytic gathering at United Nations Headquarters in New York during UN General Assembly high-level week in September. This initiative lifts-up and advances the work of exceptional teams already developing innovative solutions that address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
WHO IS ORGANIZING THE EFFORT?
The Solutions Summit is led by the United Nations, UN Foundation, shift7, and the Global Innovation Exchange. The open and transparent application and selection process involved two Selection Committees of innovators from around the world: one with members ages 30 and under to review the youth solutions submitted, and one with members ages 31+ to review the submissions from applicants aged 31+. These Selection Committees were convened through an open application process, from among nearly 400 applications received for this role.
The two Selection Committees agreed short-lists of a total of 60 solutions from more than 600 applications received, and from these short-lists, the UN Solutions Summit co-organizers selected the following 10 extraordinary solution-makers:
This year's Solutions Summit will take place 25-27 September from 12:00-1:00pm each day in the UN SDG Media Zone – a dynamic event space at the United Nations focused on the SDGs with live broadcast on UN Web TV. These sessions will involve 'lighting talks' by the selected solution-makers, as well as facilitated dialogue between them and acceleration partners. UN Solutions Summit 2018 will dedicate the 25 September session to youth solutions.
