Supply Chain Innovation Intern

  • WFP Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania (map)

WFP Tanzania is implementing its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2017-2021. The CSP envisions the following under Strategic Objective 5 (SO5): INNOVATION; WFP and its partners in Tanzania and beyond are facilitated to foster, test, refine and scale up innovation that contributes to the achievement of the SDGs by 2030.

The internship is to support the SO5 field innovation hub launched in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in May 2017 in collaboration with the WFP Innovation Accelerator. The hub serves as a sandbox for piloting and scaling up innovation ideas supported by the WFP Innovation Accelerator and identify relevant locally designed innovations.

In 2019, the WFP field innovation hub has started to execute its new innovation strategy, with two main pillars: 1) continue working with national and international pilot projects and build 2) a set of interventions to activate and strengthen the local innovation eco-system together with local partners (entrepreneur support schemes, mentoring, innovation events, business services, community management). Complementing these two pillars the Hub also seeks to 3) support CO operations to continuously improve through innovation.

This internship is linked to the third pillar and specifically targeted at innovations related to Supply Chain.
