The Partnerships Officer’s main responsibility is to manage the outreach of PLJ to the private sector to encourage public-private partnerships in experimenting with new digital data sources, including ensuring that agreements to facilitate the partnerships are in place.

Global Pulse implements data innovation programs through its Pulse Labs to provide UN and development partners with access to the data, tools and expertise required to discover new uses of big data and AI for development. Global Pulse develops toolkits, applications and platforms to improve data-driven decision-making and support evaluation of promising solutions.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Data Engineer, the intern will:
Contribute to the efforts of the team in defining, designing and building tools harnessing big data to address global challenges;
Assist in the development of software tools to extract, process and analyze data sets from a variety of sources;
Maintain data monitoring systems that ingest real time information coming from radio streams and social media data;
Support the development of backend systems;
Document processes and workflows related to the use and maintenance of big data software platforms.
