Guidance on how to apply Nature-based Solutions in enhancing resilience to disasters and climate change. Participants will gain knowledge about how human activities are interlinked with ecological systems and the main tools and approaches for applying Nature-based Solutions to reducing disaster and climate risks.

This course familiarizes participants with the FAO Science and Innovation Strategy. It introduces the Strategy's core components – the pillars, outcomes, enablers, and guiding principles – fostering a holistic understanding of the Strategy. Key concepts such as science, innovation, and technology are defined, highlighting their roles in driving progress. The course presents the Strategy's vision, goal, and scope, emphasizing better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind, in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Practical application is emphasized, enabling learners to apply the Strategy to real-world scenarios to promote sustainable agrifood systems.

Learning how to use data for policymaking can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. As part of the Data to Policy Initiative, this series of interactive trainings help policymakers in government learn how to make data-informed policymaking. Using the framework from UNDP’s Data to Policy Navigator, participants will work on their own challenges and gain knowledge that translates into immediate, tangible impact.

Recent technological advances with emerging technologies like Artificial intelligence, Big data, the Internet of Things, Mobile banking, and many others offer multiple opportunities to optimize the governance of cities and territories in Africa. In a context of rapid urban transformation, digital governance then emerges as a key element to promote Digital Inclusion, Transparency, Accountability, and Public Participation in urban management while building more Safe, Resilient and Inclusive African cities.
